Research Showcase: Electronic Collars for Dogs

University of Lincoln Research Showcase: Electronic Collars for Dogs – A Technical and Behavioural Analysis
Professor Jonathan Cooper, Lincoln School of Life Sciences

Professor Cooper’s research looks at the properties of remote static electric collars, and both the short- and long-term effects on the welfare of dogs. He investigated whether
the use of electric collars on dogs changes the nature of the relationship between dog and owner.

The results of the research are yet to be realised, but it may lead to the restriction of availability of these collars, or to the requirement for training before they can be used.
